Great unit on an aspect of english that seems to be less of a priority at my work place. The phonetic alphabet is something I see all the day in the textbooks that my job uses. Although there is a lot of new information to learn since it isn't immediately accessible if you haven't seen the phonetic alphabet, it is worth while to spend a class studying. Once teachers and students have a standardized method of articulating the sounds english words make, we can better teach and practice english pronunciation. It is also beneficial to refresh on the importance of intonation and stress in syllables/words since it is something that english speakers often do unconsciously, yet it drastically impacts the meaning of any sentence and the quality of the conversation.
