This unit was useful in terms of the physical structuring of the classroom - seating, grouping, relative positioning of the teacher - standing, sitting, at the front of the class, mingling or more distant. Also it gave useful insights into the teacher's body language, eye contact, voice levels - including range, clarity, variety and projection. It helped understand how to foster a good working atmosphere in class, including establishing rapport and distributing one's attention fairly and adequately. I found it particularly useful in terms of looking at the various activities from the point of view of the distribution of talking time between teacher and students, the latter needing to be maximised especially in the Engage and Activate phases of the class.
