The information taught in this unit about the different types of course materials, namely authentic and created material, is both useful and helpful to a new teacher like me. I also find the section on Course Book helpful, especially the part on the best use of course books. The samples provided for flash cards, worksheets for study phase activities and role-play scenarios are very interesting and helpful.I learnt that there is a lot more structure to a lesson than there appears to be. I wouldn't have thought that there was so much reasoning behind chit chat, games, and studying. Basically, it is important to have a class broken down into parts that engage the students to want to study, activate with activities what they know and have learnt, and have them study new aspects of the language you are teaching.
