This unit discussed modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. It discussed some modals in detail, gave a chart about how to use them in the present or past tense, and gave examples about which were more formal or informal. It discussed the difference between passive and active voice and gave examples of each. It also discussed the three types of phrasal verbs and how to tell the difference between each.A very short unit and in my opinion perhaps less useful than previous units. Nevertheless it is good to know that as a teacher you are not bound solely to specific course materials. The distinction between authentic and created materials might be straight forward but it is good to have this information refreshed and to realize that a balance between the two is very likely the most successful approach.
