This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The ideas offered in this unit about how to act in a new (to the teacher) culture seem to be mostly common sense. I've always acted in the manner suggested whenever I've encountered a new environment, even in my native US. The only issue I had was with question 3 -- I chose a) because I could find no prohibitions against mixed activities, and d), although seemingly innocuous, has the potential for the teacher to lose face.I feel like I have learned some strategies to create lesson plans that will meet the need of student and teachers. I heard on a number of occasions to keep the lesson plan simple which will provide the flexibility for adaptations should it be necessary. I have also learned that it is not a good idea to script lesson plans word because it will cause students to become disinterested in lesson that I am trying to teach them.
