This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I love the idea of fortune telling to help the students learn future simple tenses. I learned that that is a simple task to really help the student grasp this tense, plus it sounds fun! When looking back at this unit I personally feel like the hardest tenses for students to grasp will be the future continuous and the future perfect continuous due to the mix of present, past, and future tenses. This was an important lesson. This unit dealt with teaching receptive skills, namely reading and listening. Especially insightful was reading about the different ways we read or listen, depending on the purpose. Since I will be teaching English to Chinese high-school students, I will need to proactively address potential problems by pre-teaching vocabulary and tailoring the texts. This unit provided me with some good sample materials to be successful.
