This unit is about the receptive skills: reading and listening. These two skills are very important when learning a language and I would say, from my own experiences, that listening is the most difficult one. When reading a text you can look at it a couple of times, even if you don't know every word, you can look at the context and get the overall meaning. But when listening to someone (especially a native speaker), people usually talk very fast and they most likely have an accent. It can be very hard for a beginner student to understand someone. That's why it is so important to help students with reading and listening and there are lots of fun ways to teach them. Fun games to play, songs to listen to, get students motivated and show them learning can be fun.
