This unit covers many aspects and techniques of managing a class. It started off by introducing how eye contact, gestures and the voice is used in a classroom. Different types of student groupings (whole-class grouping, students working on their own, pair work and group work) and their pros and cons are also explained. The seating arrangement of a classroom depends on a number of factors, if it is a large class, they might have to be seated in orderly rows, especially if there are more than 25 students. Otherwise, if space is available, the teacher can choose to have students sit in circles/horseshoes, or to have small groups at separate tables. Techniques for giving individual attention, giving instructions and dealing with problem students are also covered.
