Unit 12 covers the two productive skills students will develop in a language classroom, these are speaking and writing. Although, speaking and writing are both used to communicate thoughts and ideas they do face some different challenges. For instance, although, accuracy is always important to strive for it is even more important in writing because unlike in speaking errors cannot be immediately cleared up. Therefore, errors in writing could lead to more miscommunication. One advantage to writing is that students have time to think about how they would like to express themselves and they can revise their writing to make their ideas clearer. This is an advantage speaking does not have. Speaking requires greater fluency in order to communicate most effectively.
