This unit was about receptive skills (reading and listening) and how to teach them in an effective manner that builds confidence in the students. The unit taught us how to teach receptive skills by first explaining what they were and how we use them. The unit also addressed problems that teachers may encounter with receptive skills and how to best preemptively combat problems before they arrive (they pre-teaching difficult phrases). The unit on receptive skills then went on to explain what kinds of topics and tasks we [teachers] should be select as texts and audio need to be selected carefully, and the unit finished with an easy rundown on the keys to a successful lesson. I myself learned what receptive skills are and how they should be applied in the classroom.
