In this unit, I learned of the different ways in which I can assess students. Student's level of understanding can be assessed through tutorials, as well as through evaluations that students fill out. Different kinds of tests can also be administered, depending on the purpose. There are tests to assess student's English level for placement into the right class. There are also tests to determine progress, tests administered at the beginning to determine the content of future lessons, and practice tests to prepare for external tests such as TOEFL and IELTS. Through the unit, I was therefore able to get a better understanding of the different kinds of assessments and their usages. This knowledge will help me administer assessments in the most effective way possible.
