In this unit the five main conditionals were covered, Zero, First, Second, Third and Mixed. It was useful to know why typical mistakes or errors are made by students and how to assist in preventing these in future. I found the teaching ideas beneficial. Also covered in this unit was the reported speech. Verb tenses are to be changed in order to make direct speech, indirect or reported speech.In Unit 4 I learned about the different tenses and why students make so many mistakes. In the English language there are 12 tenses which can make it very difficult for someone from that has an Asian L1 where there is only 1 tense. It is important as a teacher to be able to explain the difference and not just correcting the student and spoon feeding them the answer to avoid repetitive mistakes.
