This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The four basic skills in any language are reading, listening, speaking and writing. Receptive skills are the reading and listening, and the productive skills are the specking and writing. Predictive skills are specific information - scanning, general idea- skimming, detailed information and deducted from context. An example of purpose reading is reading map. An example of entertainment reading is listing to jokes or reading a novel. This unit was very enlightening in terms of demonstrating to me the different teaching approaches. I particularly enjoyed the section on games and how to use them to serve the purpose of teaching business English. I also enjoyed the section about computer-based learning as I am an online teacher who uses the computer for teaching purposes in a very different manner. I feel more prepared to use such technology in a practical setting.
