This unit suggested common qualities that a good teacher should ideally have, mainly related to the teacher's personality and the the nature of the relationship between the teacher and the students. I learned that a good teacher should care especially about the learning of the students instead of just his/her teaching. Teachers take on a variety of roles depending on the class activities and the situation and should be able to fluidly move from one role to another based on these environmental factors. Qualities of good learners depend on a variety of factors such as age, skill level, culture, and motivation, but generally should be willing to learn, experiment with the language, ask questions, actively participate, and be open to learning methods and corrections.
