This unit was unique in that it involved watching and evaluating two sample lessons that were teaching the same thing to the same students. The first video of the lesson involved a teacher who was making numerous mistakes and did not seem very interested in teaching the class and, thus, was not an effective teacher. He did not seem prepared and was not very engaging. Hence, his students were disinterested and almost afraid to answer. In the second video, the teacher is much more lively and engaging. He encourages his students and validates their answers. He involves them more effectively. Overall, the second video lesson is more effective. This unit was helpful because I, as a future instructor, could witness things that are and are not effective in the classroom.
