This unit focuses on several different teaching methodologies within various contexts, providing numerous practical examples. First provides an explanation examples of using case studies as a way of developing communication skill by analyzing complex authentic material. It then discusses the use of frame working to present difficult and sometimes technical information to laypeople. It moves to a discussion of problem-based learning, which places the bulk of the cognitive work on the students while the teacher acts as merely a facilitator on the project. That is followed by a brief discussion of gamifacation in the context of language learning. Next it provides a discussion of computer-aided language learning. Finally, it gives a broad overview of speech-act theory.
