In this Unit I learned how to teach modals, phrasal verbs and the passive voice to students.
I understood that modal auxiliary verbs can be used to express and change different degrees of formality and the meaning of the main verb as well as expressing the speakers intention.
As all kinds of different tenses and the new information may be confusing to the students at first, it is important to reenforce the grammar with lots of practical examples and creative teaching ideas. For example, different roleplays seem to be a good way of introducing modal verbs.
Summarized, teachers should be keen to incorporate the new grammatic forms to his / her speech step by step, so the students can slowly get used to them as well as being comfortable with using them theirselves.
