I found this unit interesting since there are so many different types of tests and the acronyms can be confusing. I was not familiar with the Cambridge tests.
Placement tests use all four skill levels reading, writing, speaking and listening and become progressively more difficult. Initial questions are very basic such as one's name, day of the week, etc.
Diagnostic tests identify strengths and weaknesses and allows us to concentrate on planning based on knowledge gaps.
Progress tests use all four skill levels and are used regularly throughout the course and are useful to the teacher with regards to which topics need review.
Practice tests should be in the same style as an internal and external exam so the student is comfortable and prepared with the final exam.
