From this unit, i gathered that writing and speaking skills are equally important when learning a language. Each needs equal attention and practice. Writing skills appear to be fairly hardert to develop because English is not a phonetic language as such, new English students may find it harder to understand written spelling and grammer on their own. This may be achieved through the use of accuracy and fluency activities as each focuses on teaching the phonetics and syntax of english.
When it comes to accuracy, Drilling is an effective means of asssiting students with speaking. This was illustrated in the video unit, where Mark the teacher effectively used the drilling technique. I believe it also helps with involving all the students equally in the learning process.
