This unit covered what makes a good teacher and a good learner. There are many qualities that make a good teacher such as knowing their subject well, being kind, and supportive, as well as being motivating. A good learner should be motivated to learn the subject and be willing to make mistakes and learn from them. Adults and young learners can be quite different students. Adults tend to be more motivated as they have usually chosen to study English, however, they can be self-conscious and less willing to make mistakes. Young learners usually absorb new grammar and vocabulary quickly and aren't as nervous, however, they tend to have a short attention-span. There are 5 main levels to language learning; beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced.
