The approach, energy, and enthusiasm of the teacher is essential for student success. If the teacher is intimidating, unfriendly, or unapproachable, students may be nervous to fail and not be willing to try. Teachers need to encourage students to do their best, and also need to treat students as individuals as well as a class. An easy way to do this is to use students' names.This unit showed how to put theory into practice through some example video lessons. These videos were very helpful in showing what makes an effective lesson (from instruction delivery to the use of gestures, tone of voice, and types of activities). It clearly showed the difference in student engagement and enjoyment between a poorly structured lesson and an effective lesson.
