In Unit 15, I feel like I have learned that testing our students is vital to their learning and to ours as teachers. We need to know what to expect before we can plan a unit to students, so in my opinion a placement tests is a good option to start with. Once the level of the students are known then diagnostic tests could be offered to get more in depth information about the subjects that will be taught. As the days, weeks, or months pass by, progress tests are helpful to show teachers if the material they are teaching is understood by the students. Usually progress tests will tell us if we need to review certain material or move on to newer language points. Finally, we can give practice tests to prepare the students for an external exam if they wish to pass one.
