Perhaps one of the biggest things to remember in lesson planning is to be flexible. Activities that you have planned may take longer than you expected or students may need more time to grasp a particular subject, so don't be too stuck on your structured lessons, anticipate the need for changes. When planning a lesson remember that it is important to be organized; having a plan will help give you a realistic expectation of the class and keep things on schedule. Also remember to include both learner and teaching objectives, make a list of teaching aids needed for a particular lesson, and list specific plans for each teaching phase (Engage, Study, Activate). Oh, and don't forget to have fun. Help your students enjoy the process of learning as much as you enjoy teaching.
