This unit covered the different ways new types of language (vocabulary, grammar, and functions) can be introduced while using the ESA method. It provided reasons for selecting vocabulary to teach, along with what students need to know about the vocabulary they are learning. This is useful information, as it means the students will not be confused by unnecessary information. The same is true for grammar and functions. The example activities provided for each language area were very useful, and especially in relation to the ESA method. It shows clearly which activity should be used in each phase, and what activities are best for each area. Finally, the example lessons given using the ESA method were a good refresher to the method, and how to apply the method in practice.
