In this unit I learned that the productive skills are reading and writing and how even though it may seem that speaking should be the most highlighted skill, writing skill development exercises should not be ignored and relegated to homework. People communicate for four main reasons: to communicate something, to listen to something, they are interested in the topic and they have a communicative purpose.This was an extremely interesting and challenging unit that gave me a better understanding of pronunciation and phonology. What was especially enjoyable about this unit what the phonology. I feel it is very important for students to understand the difference between the spelling and pronunciation of a word. This has definitely given me great tips on how to teach the correct pronunciation to students.
