An ESL teacher may face many types of class and students: children/young/adult learners, variety in English levels and motivation, individual or group teaching, general/specific purpose for learning English. An example for ESP is a Business English class where learners only want to learn English to serve a specific purpose which is relevant to their business responsibilities. This unit explores all of the above in details.In this unit, I learnt that there are many exceptions in the English language and there are various rules, like the \"place, manner, time\" rule when multiple adverbs are used and how they are placed within a sentence. It is quite interesting and complicated to be reminded of these rules and exceptions but there can be many fun exercises to do with students, using miming games, where these parts of speech can be remembered.
