This unit was about sentence structure and recognizing what each word is within a sentence. I learned about nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, gerunds, prepositions, and conjunctions. I learned about the importance of understanding the difference between subject pronouns and object pronouns, which tend to confuse students. Knowing what areas of grammar may be challenging for my students will help me determine the best approach for teaching those lessons when the time comes.There are also parts of the English language that have no official rules but instead follow a suggested order, such as the order for multiple adverbs in a sentence. It is important that I am comfortable and confident in my knowledge of grammar so that my classroom trusts what I am teaching.
