I basically refreshed what I had previously learnt in my younger years at junior school. Although I felt I knew most of the content, I still struggled with remembering which function does what, e.g. I'm pretty sure I got the question about transitive verbs wrong because I definitely know what an intransitive verb is but I still need to re-read on Transitive verbsI have never used Past perfect continuous but I learned how I can use it an explain to the students.
If students learn the past tenses separately, they don't have a problem to absorb this grammar because past simple, past perfect and past perfect continuous exist in many languages. Teacher need to give students many activities to practice this practical grammar.
