The main aim of Unit 2 is to provide the teacher with the basic understanding of the parts of the speech. It is necessary for every single teacher to know at least the basics of grammar since teaching is not only a matter of instinctive knowledge, but also of conscious understanding of the target language. In my particular case, being a non-native speaker, I have had to learn grammar as the basic core of my learning process. It has helped me structure my language better and produce in a more accurate way my sentences. I have been teaching English for many years and grammar is always, whether some people like it or not, at the core of the teaching process. So I believe grammar is essential for every single teacher if he or she wants to be a serious and respectable educator.
