The two types of receptive skills are reading and listening. Predictive skills is predicting the content of an article from it's introduction or headline. Scanning is - listening or reading for a specific information. In general idea or skimming, we do not listen or read every single word but just trying to get the general understanding of the content. Detailed information on the other hand is, we read and listen in order to understand the whole details. Deduction content is able to understand the meaning of each words or phrases from the context we read or heard. As teachers we need to remember that we need to teach them difficult vocabularies or unknown language structures. We also need to be careful selecting the texts and select topics that will interests the students.
