This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 14’s primary focus was on the importance of course books and materials. When it comes to course books teachers have mixed feelings about them. Some prefer using them as they provide a syllabus of what to expect from the course, and most of the information needed for the course will be covered in the course book. However not all teachers prefer to use them as they don’t always fit the specific needs of students, and course books dictate what is to be taught thus not allowing for much flexibility in the course. While I do think course books are important to a class and shouldn’t be omitted entirely, I also believe exclusive use of the book to teach the class is more damaging than beneficial to the students as it can a make class very dull, and monotonous.
