We watched two demo classes where the content and the students were the same, but the teacher changed the way he presented the lesson to show the impact it had on the students' ability to follow the lesson and engage with the grammar point. By building a rapport with the students, and communicating at a level they could comprehend, the teacher massively improved the students' performance in the second lesson.
Despite being a remarkably bad lesson, I did notice things in the first lesson that I have done during my own teaching (most notably, communicating grammar verbally at a level above the students' comprehension), and watching the second lesson gave me several ideas about how to work around it (specifically, the use of pictures and visual aids to prompt the students).
