This session explains the different types of tests that are used to evaluate student's language levels and how much info they have retained during the course. The types of tests that are being used in school are placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, and practice tests. Though I do agree that testing simply tests student's memories, and does not dictates how much students have learned or improved. However, testing is needed to evaluate the student's language levels, and it is a good way to provide feedbacks to teachers. Also, tests tend to keep students more engaged because they are being held responsible for their learning. I am surprised to learn that there are so many different external tests available for work and school in an English speaking country.
