This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covers what teachers encounter when they first start teaching a new class of students. It suggests warm up exercises so that you and the other students can get to know each other, and get them comfortable speaking English. It also covers how to best teach large classes, and problems that arise when you teach them. The unit goes into problems teachers have, such as reluctance of the students to speak, difficulties with speaking tasks, and use of their native languages in the class. Having been an ELS teacher for a couple of years, this was all very familiar to me, having gone through all of these scenarios every year in one way or another. It was nice to have my problems acknowledged as common place and how I've learned to deal with them proven effective elsewhere.
