This unit covered the topic of teaching the productive skills of speaking and writing. For teaching the productive skill of speaking, the material further helped me understand how to carry out controlled, guided, and creative activities for helping to produce accuracy and fluency, respectively. For teaching the writing skill, there were also a some basic guidelines given to help us understand the importance of the skill, as well as how to assist the students in a meaningful way during class time. This chapter helped me to see some new means of engaging the students effectively so that they would find the material more interesting and thus facilitate their learning. It also helped me to better understand how to prepare beforehand and how to help the students more effectively.
