This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered the teaching of productive skills. There are two productive skills: speaking and writing. When it comes to speaking there are two different types of activities: accuracy and fluency. Accuracy activities are usually part of the study phase, and they are typically controlled or guided. Fluency activities are usually part of the activate stage, and they are centered around creative communication. Writing can be a difficult skill for students to learn if English writing is dramatically different from writing in their native language. It's important to have writing activities in the classroom because teachers cannot depend on students to practice writing skills as homework. I feel like through this unit I've learned how to plan a successful productive skills lesson.
