Unit 6 covered the Past Tenses. These tenses consist of the Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, and Past Perfect Continuous. These variations of the Past tense are, of course, the same four that exist for the Present and Future Tenses.
The Unit advised that, upon completion, we aspiring teachers should begin to see the structural patterns that go into the formation of these four variations.
The Simple Past involves a small change in the base form.
The Past Continuous involves the combining of the past form of “be†(Was/Were) with the present participle (verb+ing).
The Past Perfect combines “had†+ past participle.
The Perfect Continuous combines “had†+ “been†+ “verb+ing.â€
The usages of each form were discussed.
