I think classroom management is one of the most essential lessons a new teacher can learn. From my previous experience, it really can make or break a classroom. Although there are many guidelines for a teacher to follow, it is important for a teacher to consider what works and what does not work for his or her classroom. A perfect example of this would be the new classes I experienced this year. We are a much smaller school with much smaller class sizes, so we got to know each other very quickly. My students bonded in several of our classes, and that allowed me to focus less on icebreakers and more on team-building activities, like role-playing and script writing. Our students had a real blast working with each other and being able to look back on the work they produced together.
