This unit covered the basics of teaching a new language, and the important things to emphasize. I learned about vocabulary, grammar and functions. In teaching vocabulary it is important to think about what vocabulary I want to select, what the students need to know about that vocabulary, and the techniques that would be most effective in teaching that vocabulary. We also went back over the ESA styles (boomerang, straight arrow and patchwork). In learning about Introducing grammatical structures, we went over how it was important that students know the meaning, us, forms, and the spoken form. Also, we covered techniques for presenting practicing language structure, and the typical ESA grammar lessons. For teaching language functions I learned about the typical ESA function lessons.
