In this unit I have gained a foundational insight into understanding speaking and writing and the factors and considerations necessary in teaching this to in a foreign language class. I now understand recognising the difference between fluency and accuracy and how teaching this depends on having an approach centred around creativity for fluency, allowing freedom and comfort of the student or a more fixed or teacher centred approach with drilling, guided or elicitation technique more directed by a teacher. Furthermore, I have a better understanding of writing and the importance of games focusing on student interaction maximisation. With this enriched understanding and applying this to the ESA framework I can now apply theory to practice, and teach these skills in my future classes.
