In Unit 10 I have learned the importance of a friendly, engaging demeanor while teaching. The simple act of smiling and being warm will profoundly impact the students comfort level and encourages them to open up, learn, and engage in activities. In the first lesson the teacher was scowling and gave off an intimidating demeanor which caused the students to be reluctant to answer any questions. The ESA lesson plan in the second video proved to be very effective because the lesson was broken into segments, gave reprieve of monotony, provided a friendly environment, and encouraged the students to take part by creating their own animal with specific abilities. A safe environment for students to learn makes a vast difference in the amount of knowledge they will absorb and put to use.
