This unit focused on the formation and use of present tense verbs. It also covered typical student errors with regard to present tense verbs and provided teaching ideas to use in the classroom. As a native speaker, what I learned from this lesson were the rules and patterns associated with the formation of verbs I intuitively use all the time. For example, in order to form the third person singular for most verbs, there are numerous patterns (the addition of an -s to the base form, the y changing to an i and the addition of –es, the addition of –es). Furthermore, when using the present perfect tense with the words “since†or “for†one must understand that “for†is used with periods of time, while “since†is used with points of time.
