It's important to adhere to classroom management techniques so that adverse behavior doesn't hinder learning or student-teacher relationships. More than anything else, I believe that how a teacher handles himself/herself will set the tone of the class and lay the foundation for helping students learn. I've observed that three reasons why students misbehave have to do with anxiety, boredom, and the need to test the boundaries of their social environment. The best way to get the best results from our students is to always remember my purpose in the classroom. That is, to focus on students' needs. I don't lower my standards, but I push them to work towards their excellence in an indirect way. In every situation, students respond well to any teacher who openly advocates for their success.
