Modal verbs can be used to express a need or possibility. They don't change relative to the person and are followed by the base form of a verb. An excerice where students create rules for a situation is a useful activity for practicing the many usages of modal verbs.
The passive voice can be used by the speaker when he or she wishes to take emphasis off the doer of an action. In the passive voice, the tense will be indicated be a form of the \"be\" verb. A good tool for practice is to change active voice sentences into passive voice sentences.
Relative clauses are used to modify a noun. There are 3 types of relative clauses - intransitive, transitive seperable and transitive inseperable. It would be wise to drop these clauses every now and then to introduce students to their usage.
