This unit focused on teaching speaking and writing, or productive language skills. I thought it was smart to point out that writing is often neglected as it is time consuming in class, but that it should not be ignored. I also thought the unit did a good job highlighting differences between fluency and accuracy and how to incorporate both into different parts of the same lesson. Accuracy being more controlled and guided while fluency being given more creative opportunities and student controlled activities. I think it showed how to give feedback very well for the fluency stage, but less so for the accuracy. Specifically creative writing. How much feedback? Different amounts for handwriting, spelling and punctuation? Should student do rewrites also? The unit was a bit vague on this area.
