I think that this chapter was a breeze compared to the last one. The difference in age groups, as well as who the students are. is something that could be easily overlooked and i am so happy that ITT covered this. We learned about the differences in learners and what motivates them. A young learner may not be as excited to learn english because it is something that there parents signed them up for. While a business person is much more motivated because they either want to make english a part of their business practices or because the company is paying and forcing them to take and complete it. We also learned about the needs based analysis to let us know how to approach teaching English for Specific purposes. The ESP students can range from a secretary to CEO, and everyone in between.
