This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Engage. Study. Activate. I learned in this lesson about how to effectively introduce a new word. Engaging phase has to do with visual material such as pictures. Study has to do with pronunciation and spelling. Activate has to do with small groups working together toward a common goal which they may present to the class or each other to use their what they have learned. Students need to know where the vocabulary belongs and how the words interact with other words. They may affect conjugation and such. Even though we live in a time with great spell checker, I think it is important to enforce and encourage good spelling in these groups. Handwritten materials will help ensure this. Depending on the group dynamic, the teacher will select either patchwork, boomerang, or straight and arrow styles.
