In an ideal world, schools would have all the books and materials that the teacher could need. In reality, is somewhat different as the teachers has to create his/her own materials to either supplement the course book, or replace sections that are not suitable for the class. This unit centers on coursebooks and lesson materials. Course books is seen to be a very emotive issue for many teachers because some teachers believe in it, while others despise it. For many students, compared to the course book, materials created by the teacher are more interesting, more relevant and a welcome change from the course book. We examine two groups of materials such as; the Authentic and the Created materials. I will say therefore that, materials created by the teacher are better understood by the students.
