I am pretty familiar with parts of speech as during my study I had to revise them many times. Anyway, it is always a good idea to make one more review.
So, each word in a sentence has its purpose so it can be classified as parts of speech.
There are nouns (they are places, people, things and so on, they may be common and proper, countable and uncountable), adjectives (they describe nouns, there are comparatives and superlatives), articles (definite and indefinite), verbs (transitive that are followed by an object and intransitive, also 3 auxiliary verbs), adverbs (they add information to an action), gerunds (-ing form of a verb used as a noun), pronouns (used instead of nouns, they are personal, possessive, reflexive and relative), prepositions (of time, movement and place) and conjunctions.
