This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In the unit ‘teaching a new language’ we learn three parts, the vocabulary, grammar and the function of teaching a language. When teaching vocabulary it is important that teachers are guided by course curriculum as well as student needs like: meaning, use, word grammar, spelling, pronunciation and interaction with other words, it is typically taught in an ‘ESA’ format. We learned that when introducing grammatical structures in all cases students need to know what the language really means, the grammatical form (in the spoken format, written format) and how it is used. Teaching language functions teaches us adequacy of the language that the student may use for example: formal or informal, agreeing, refusing etc. typically it is taught with a boomerang type ‘ESA’.
